Scott Varn of Preserving a Picturesque America (PAPA) will be sharing with us how the arts have played such an important role in the early conservation movement in America. His presentation will include adventures of following in the footsteps of the early adventure artists all around the country to find the exact locations where the originals were created and inviting modern artists to recreate the scenes as they appear today. The goal is to do more than educate, but to actually preserve these amazing locations. His organization recently had an exhibition and art show at the City Gallery in Charleston and a documentary on PBS, and they are using this attention to promote local artists who are helping to protect natural diversity in the SC Lowcountry.
