OPENING RECEPTION: Friday, August 21, 2026 | 4:00–7:00 p.m. EXHIBITION DATES: Friday, August 21 – Saturday, August 29, 2026 The Edisto Island Open Land Trust (EIOLT) and Preserving A Picturesque America (PAPA) invite the community to experience Preserving Edisto Through the Power of the Arts, a unique art exhibition and fundraiser celebrating the landscapes, marshes, waterways, and historic places that make Edisto Island so special. For months, South Carolina artists have gathered at Store Creek Corner and other iconic locations across Edisto, painting the places that inspire them with one shared purpose—to help protect their muse. The exhibition will transform the historic Bailey House into a beautiful art gallery featuring original works available for purchase throughout the week. Visitors are encouraged not only to enjoy the artwork but also to purchase the pieces they love. Every artwork sold directly supports the participating artists while also benefiting both Preserving A Picturesque America and the Edisto Island Open Land Trust, helping each organization continue its mission of protecting the places that inspire us all. The celebration begins with an Opening Reception on Friday, August 21, from 4:00–7:00 p.m. Guests will enjoy light refreshments while meeting artists, viewing the collection for the first time, and experiencing an unforgettable evening surrounded by beautiful artwork in one of Edisto's most historic settings. The reception offers the best opportunity to purchase favorite pieces before they are sold, but the gallery will remain open daily through August 29 for anyone wishing to return, browse, or purchase artwork.
