Chamber Music Charleston returns to the Presbyterian Church on Edisto Island with a program of music for flute, clarinet, bassoon, and French Horn with a nod to the upcoming 250th Anniversary of the United States. The program begins with wind marches from the Revolutionary War era, evoking the spirit of independence. The concert continues with a wind trio by François Devienne, an 18th-century composer who began in the Military Band of the French Guard and became the first flute professor at the Paris Conservatory after France’s revolution. The concert concludes with Beethoven’s Op. 87 Wind Quartet, a work that reflects the revolutionary energy and creative transformation of early 19th-century Europe.
