SUMMARY:Edisto GOP: Black History Month Honoree Lt. Col. Harriet Holman (Ret.)
DESCRIPTION:Lt. Col. Harriet Holman (Ret.) will be a 2023 recipient of the Charleston County Republican Party's North Star Award at this month's Black History Banquet. Her visit to us marks the 1 year anniversary of this Dorchester County Councilwoman leaving the Democrat Party and joining the Republican Party. Her nationwide news interviews have drawn attention to the diversity of the Republican Party and we look forward to hosting her on this special anniversary.\n\n\n\nCouncilwoman Holman has had a remarkable career including involvement with assisting those who lost loved ones at the Pentagon following 9/11\, multiple memberships on heritage and veteran boards and her many medals include the Global Terrorism Service Medal. Her kindness and dedication to her community was exemplified by a tour she hosted at Badham House\, a stately St. George home that she and her husband purchased. At one time the Black workers at this home were only allowed in through the back door. She hosted a "Through the Front Door" event where the entire community\, and many of these now retired workers\, were able to come in and be warmly welcomed. Tears were shed and stories were told. \n\n\n\nWe look forward to hearing from Councilwoman Holman at this\, our next monthly\, meeting.
