DESCRIPTION:Make a difference for threatened shorebirds this spring and summer at Edisto Beach State Park\, Edisto town beach\, Botany Bay.\n\n\n\nThis stewardship effort is focused on species like Wilson's Plovers and American Oystercatchers at at critical nesting sites along South Carolina's coast\, from April through August.\n\n\n\nTrained volunteers monitor these species and educate beachgoers about how to safely use the beach and keep birds safe at the same time. No prior bird knowledge is required.\n\n \nThis training session covers:\n\n\n What Shorebird Stewards do and how we educate the public to appreciate birds and conservation\n Organization and logistics of volunteering\n The biology of the birds we protect\n\n\nIf you cannot make the in-person training\, a virtual training option will be provided on our website.
